TxDOT proposes to modify Permit SWG-2007-00173 to add additional capacity for the long-term maintenance hydraulic dredging of Bolivar Ferry Landing.
TxDOT proposes maintenance dredging for a period of 10 years within three Port Bolivar Ferry slips and approach ways to maintain a depth of 22 feet below mean low tide. The dredge area is a 32.84-acre site.
The proposed DMPAs include the following options: PA 2A, PA 2B, PA5, PA6, and BU 1. TxDOT proposes to remove approximately 350,000 cubic yards of dredged material annually. TxDOT also proposes to place fill material into 62 acres of waters of the United States to utilize the material beneficially as beach restoration. The material would be utilized beneficially into the approximate following areas: 46-acre area for BU 1, a 16-acre tidal flat, and a 59-acre marsh creation area.
TxDOT has provided a sediment testing and dredge material placement analysis. A sampling and characterization report, dated 9 September 2014, has also been provided. This information is available upon request.
