The applicant, the Public Service Electric and Gas Company (PSE&G), has requested Department of the Army authorization to discharge fill material into waters of the United States to facilitate the upgrade and conversion of an existing 7-mile double circuit 138kV aerial electrical transmission line that currently extends over waters of the United States to a double circuit 345kV aerial electrical transmission line. The existing 138kV aerial transmission line currently extends from the Marion Switching Station in Jersey City, Hudson County, north to the Bergen Switching Station in Ridgefield, Bergen County, New Jersey. The activities associated with the proposed upgrade and conversion of the existing electrical transmission line would be known as the “Bergen-Linden Corridor Project”.
