PROPOSED RESIDENTIAL SUBDIVISION IN CALCASIEU PARISH

NAME OF APPLICANT: Calcasieu Lake Development Company, c/o Arabie Environmental Solutions, Post Office Box 928, Lake Charles, Louisiana 70602.

LOCATION: Located at Latitude 29.98633, Longitude -93.23561, adjacent to Louisiana Highway 1144, approximately 3.7 miles southeast from Grand Lake, Louisiana, in Cameron Parish. The project is located within the Lower Calcasieu Basin, Hydrologic Unit 08080206.

DESCRIPTION: Department of the Army (DA) permit, MVN-2006-00570-WY, was issued to Calcasieu Lake Development Company on September 11, 2006, for the construction of a residential subdivision development to include; roadways, driveways, and foundations for houses and barns. The permitted construction activity was never started and the permit has since expired. A total of approximately 5.8 acres of jurisdictional coastal prairie wetlands would be permanently impacted by the proposed development. The applicant purchased 6 acres of Coastal Prairie wetlands at Lacassane Mitigation Bank, as compensatory mitigation at the time of original issuance of the DA permit. The applicant is requesting that the DA permit be reissued for the permitted activity. The Corps shall determine if any further mitigation shall be required prior to reissuance of the subject DA permit.
